What Holds The Work Together
What Does The Name “CURA” mean?

Cūra is a latin word with no simple English translation. At its heart, it means to guard and care for something precious with diligence and love.
It's where we get the english word curate. While we now associate curators with museums, the title originally belonged to those entrusted with the care of souls — expressed in the Church's ancient phrases Cūra Animarum (pastoral care of souls) and Cūra Personalis (care for the whole person). The French preserved this in the word curé, as in St. John Vianney, the famed Curé d'Ars, beloved for his holistic pastoral care.
When the word Cūra appears in Scripture it is usually in the context of healing. For example, when Jesus sends out the Twelve, He calls them to proclaim the Good News and heal (cūrantes) the sick from village to village [Luke 9:6]. When Saint Jerome was translating the new Testament into Latin, he chose the verb curāre to stand in for the Greek word “therapeuō”, which is where we derive the English word “therapy” from.
CURA signifies both the rigorous, professional care expected of modern counseling and the deep spiritual attentiveness found in Jesus' own healing ministry. We strive to create a space grounded in grace, truth, and mercy — a sanctuary where individuals, couples, and families can experience holistic restoration, growth in virtue, and the transformative peace that comes from being truly known and cared for.
